Here's the TV grid, the main screen preferred by most people.
In landscape mode, there's a beautiful 6 channels x 2-1/2 hours. On a MessagePad 130, you
can see 6 channels x 1-1/2 hours in portrait mode.
As a Couch Fire subscriber you get to choose not only the channels you
receive but also the order that they are displayed and even the little labels
used on the side.
The show descriptions are dynamic. If there is only a half hour visible,
a movie will only show its title, stars, year and MPAA rating. If there's
an hour or more, it'll display a full description. |
 |
The TV grid has even more intelligence. It automatically updates itself
every half our so you can instantly see what on.
You can navigate the schedules by choosing a new time and day using the
pickers at the top right. You can page forward and back using the arrows
at the top and page up and down with the regular arrows at the bottom.
To select a show, just tap on it. Then you can use the "Details"
or "Remember" buttons. |
 |
Here's the details view that is just one tap away.
And with Couch Fire, you get ALL the details. When you look at the newspaper,
most of their info is cut to a minimum because they want to squeeze as much
as they can in too little a space.
We spell everything out, no two letter codes. We have descriptions round
the clock, not just prime time. And lots of other niceties like episode
titles, directors and cast members |
 |
Another useful view is the overview.
Here you see a one liner for every show that's on. You don't have to
surf up and down the dial with the remote to get a quick glance at what's
on.
Just like in all the other views, you can navigate to any time or day
that you are interested in. Tapping on a show title brings up the details. |
 |
From the TV grid or details view you can hit the "Remember"
button to put the selected show into the Date Book of your Newton.
In the Remember slip you see here, everything is already filled out for
you. The only detail left for you is whether you want an alarm or not. And
even the default alarm can be set in Couch Fire's preferences. |
 |
Couch Fire fully supports the Newton's find capabilities. You can search
for any text in the whole weeks schedule, whether is a show title, actor,
sports team or whatever.
The list of found shows includes the title, network and show time. A
single tap displays the show into current view.
Using Find is also terrific for finding alternate show times for your
favorite shows. |

Fire your tastes.
